City of Fashion

It is past due that I do a post on London’s style! I have mentioned its beauty numerous times, but I have not yet painted a detailed picture for you.

Upon my arrival these were the main things that I noticed about womenswear:

Black down jackets with fur hoods/fur collars

Moncler
Wool capes
Opaque black tights & leggings (ankle length)
Short dresses/Long fitted-knit T-shirts
Black & brown leather boots
    Ankle booties
    Lace-up mid-calf boots
    Over-the-knee boots
Circle Scarves

American Apparel
Sparkles are seen roaming the streets, but it is obvious the trend is dwindling. Sequins and Sparkles line the sales racks of stores, making room for the new trends of 2010.

Here is an exciting little tid-bit: 80’s fashions are heading out the door, while designers find inspiration from the 90’s (the decade’s 1st comeback!). Shoulder pads will still be used at a minimum.  Like the 90’s this season’s silhouettes will be less structured, adopting the mind-set that “less is more”.

Let’s do a little reminiscing of 1990’s fashions…
Midriff Showing
   Belly Button Rings
Chunky Shoes
Torn Denim
Leather (AND “pleather”...)
Spaghetti Straps

Take a little trip down memory lane with BBC’s “I Love the 90’s” and find something old to be made new.
