A Quiet Escape

Sunday I traveled to Stratford-Upon-Avon and Oxford. Both English towns were incredible. It was nice to encounter a different pace than London’s steady movement.

Stratford—home of William Shakespeare and his wife Anne Hathaway—was our first destination. I was struck by the beauty of the town. The air was fresh, clear, and peaceful. It was a quaint experience to tour the home of Anne Hathaway. It’s rustic, simple nature was beautiful.

Birds chirped through the sunny sky as we walked through the gardens of Anne Hathaway’s old estate.

The next tour took place in Oxford. The architecture and rich history of the town’s existence were breathtaking. Oxford is home to some of the world’s greatest minds. How inspiring it would be to study within such magnificent walls!

On a lighter note, it was pointed out that many of the buildings in Oxford were used as the set of the Harry Potter movies. This town is also home of the story Alice in Wonderland.

One of my favorite moments of the trip took place in a pub called The Eagle and Child. Within its walls J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis met regularly over a brew!

Another point of inspiration for me was the view from our tour bus’s windows. Traveling through England’s green rolling hills was picturesque, drawing images in soothing and soft color and texture.

A setting reminding me of Chanel’s 2010 Spring Collection
