Mermaids. My Muse.

Mermaids are the epitome of imagination. freedom. beauty.

As a child I had a treasure box filled with knick-knacks—one of my most treasured possessions being a picture of a mermaid my grandmother tore from a magazine.  She told me that it was real, and I believed her.  I still have a huge draw to these mythical creatures.  The idea of them intrigues me...

It inspired me then...It inspires me now (Fashionably Formed "Muse").

Hipster for a Day

Today I was a hipster.

Styling: Carlynne Morrison (pieced together with C.Mor.Threads Vintage finds)
Make-up: Hailey Opacich of M.A.C.
Photography: John Addison & Andrew Jacobs
*image taken on my camera phone for a little teaser, as the photos are processed!

From hanging from the side of a parked semi-truck to climbing a ladder on the side of a building to lying on the floor with some orange bowling balls, my morning was an exciting one!  It's always fun to play dress-up--oversized glasses, pink jumpsuits, & bright lipstick have transformative powers.  I had fun being a hipster for the day.

What is a "hipster", you ask?  Well read Urban Dictionary's definition for a great answer.

***Disclaimer*** In no way are we making fun of my friendly hipster folk--merely joining in on the fun :).

Make Me a Movie Star (circa 1920's)

Today, I was a movie star from the 1920's.

Louise Brooks.

"The great art of films does not consist of descriptive movement of face and body but in the movements of thought and soul transmitted in a kind of intense isolation."

C.Mor. Threads' headpiece made for the shoot with vintage flowers & wire

I was gifted a haircut & given the opportunity to style wardrobe under an inspiring theme.
One of the 3 outfits included my great-grandmother's slip from the 1920's & a C.Mor.Threads tu-tu (pictured above).

Thank you Corrinna for your gorgeous translation!  1920's turned 2011.

She's a superstar!  Visit Corrinna at the downtown Seattle Gene Juarez Salon
and treat yourself to a fabulous conversation, relaxing experience & thorough haircut.

*Images from the photo shoot will be posted in a few weeks!

Dreamin

Are you living your dream?—utilizing each moment to better yourself and the world around you?
One of my favorite quotes since high school: “don’t sort of maybe live, but live like you are going all out-- like you’re not afraid.” By who?—none else than my favorite Sue Monk Kidd (I might over-quote her..)
I have been blessed with an amazing summer so far.  Here I trace my dreams coming true—even be they small J.

Family Time.

Splashing through Cal Anderson fountain (shh..).

Jogging along the Puget Sound in the sunshine.

BBQ in the park.

Beach time and Puget Sound plunge.

Dancing.

Relaxation.

Washington road trips.

Organization. Reflection. Growth.

Building Friendships.

Becoming Inspired.

Collaborating.

Creating.

Life should be an adventure.  What do you make of it?
