Inspired by Alexander McQueen--Gene Juarez Style(d)

Downtown Seattle Gene Juarez Photo Shoot with Crystal Jenkins
ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

This was an intimidating challenge.  With Crystal's creative abilities, I wasn't concerned with the concept, but how was I going to attempt a wardrobe construction based off of the ingenious creations of a fashion icon?  I took notes from McQueen's 2011 collection, collaborated with Crystal, thrifted for treasures (within hidden antique stores & second-hand stores), designed and constructed five pieces, borrowed $600 shoes, and had fun in front of the camera.

Here is the inspiration:

Louise Brooks 2011

Louise Brooks for the downtown Seattle Gene Juarez Salon

In my last Fashionably Formed post, I mentioned mermaids being a muse for my art.  So too is the bold woman of the 1920's.  (Please see a former post that was written while studying in London).  Who knew I would be given the chance to become this character?  It's intriguing to see life's threads connect, intertwine, and create a unique tapestry.  This blog is written with an aim to live with eyes wide open--to see more threads***.
